Aker BP, on behalf of the Wellhead Platform Alliance, has contracted PG Flow Solutions to deliver more pump systems to the Hod field development in the North Sea.
PG Flow Solutions will deliver a drain oil recovery pump, plus a spare unit, for the normally unmanned wellhead platform.
Liquid handling and pump specialist PG Flow Solutions will assemble the pumps at its facility in Sande in Vestfold, Norway, and deliver them to Kvaerner’s Verdal facility which is constructing the wellhead platform.
The latest deliveries are add-ons to the contract signed in June this year, when Aker BP awarded PG Flow Solutions a contract to supply a number of pump systems to be used at the Hod field which is under development. Then, PG Flow Solutions was asked to deliver miscellaneous pumps to the platform topside, including a pressure equalising pump, freshwater pump, freshwater pressure pump, diesel transfer pump, and one hazardous open drain pump.
“We are renowned globally as a pump and liquid handling specialist. The Hod contract, where we will deliver such a vast range of pump systems, explains exactly why,” says Torjus Wæringsaasen, project manager at PG Flow Solutions.
The original Hod platform was the first unmanned platform on the Norwegian continental shelf when it started production in 1990. The original platform is no longer in service and will be removed after the wells have been permanently plugged. First oil from the new Hod platform – which will be named Hod B – is planned for first quarter 2022.Hod B will be tied-back to the Valhall field centre. The Hod field is located approximately 12 km south of Valhall field center, in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.
