Norwegian shipbuilder Aas Mekaniske Verksted has awarded pump and liquid handling specialist PG Flow Solutions a contract to deliver pump systems to a wellboat the shipyard is building for Brønnbåt Nord AS.
PG Flow Solutions will deliver eight of the company’s large seawater circulation pumps that ensure continuous seawater circulation in the boat’s well. Additionally, the company will supply all engine room pumps that are required for the main engine and support engines, plus generic pump requirements for operating the wellboat.
PG Flow Solutions’ seawater circulation pumps are highly effective and developed to ensure best possible animal welfare, which in turn translates to financial gain for the end-user. The vessel crew can easily maintain the pumps themselves, without support from an external service technician, which keeps operating costs down.
The pump systems will be delivered to Aas Mekaniske Verksted’s yard at Vestnes in Norway. PG Flow Solutions has not disclosed the value of the contract.
“We are thrilled about the success Aas Mek is currently experiencing. The yard has established itself as a world-leading supplier of wellboats. It emphasizes good fish welfare, which is why our live fish pump systems are a good fit for the vessel,” says Øyvind Berg, vice president of sales and marketing at PG Flow Solutions. Solutions.
The wellboat is newbuild number 205 from Aas Mekaniske Verksted. It has a storage capacity of 3,000 cubic metres, equivalent to 400-450 tonnes of live fish. The newbuild vessel will be 76,96 metres long, 17.80 metres wide and depth moulded is 5.90 metres. The design is Aas Mekaniske Verksted’s own AAS 3002 ST design. The vessel will be delivered in the first quarter of 2021.
Brønnbåt Nord AS has placed the order for the wellboat. Brønnbåt Nord AS, which is a wellboat company founded in 2015 and is located at Engenes in the municipality of Ibestad, Norway. The company is a local partnership between Salaks AS, Gratanglaks og Kleiva Fiskefarm AS.
